What documents do I need in order to apply?
You must first be a certified Personal Care Aide or a Certified Nursing Assistant. You must have a valid driver’s license, social security card, proof of car insurance, and current Tb test or Chest-X-ray.
What if I am not a certified PCA or Licensed CNA?
We do offer a free PCA class that is held in our office once a month. In order to register you must have a driver’s license, social security card, and proof of car insurance. You must also be able to pass a VA State Background Check.
What happens after I complete the PCA class?
After the class is completed, you can work with our agency. However, if you choose not to work with us you cannot take the certificate and work with another agency.
What are PCAs and CNAs qualified to do in the field?
Light housekeeping, meal preparation and cleanup, medication reminders, bathing and dressing assistance, personal hygiene assistance, laundry and linen changing, transportation and grocery shopping. For additional questions, please contact our office staff.
Is a background check completed for each employee?
Yes, each employee is screened upon applying for a position at Senior’s First Choice
How do you qualify for Medicaid?
If an individual is looking for Long-Term Care Services through Medicaid, contact the Department of Social Services for your county to see what requirements need to be met for Medicaid services.
Who do we contact if there are Medicaid Eligibility issues?
Please contact your case worker from the Department of Social Services.
How do I get services through Senior’s First Choice?
Please call the agency to speak with one of our staff members. We will take your information for yourself or for a loved one to set up services. We will need to know whether the client has Medicaid or will be paying privately.
What is the intake process for new clients?
We offer a free RN assessment on a date and time convenient for the client and family. We will arrange for the families to meet with potential aides who are interested in providing care for your loved one. Once the RN assessment is complete and the client and family have selected an aide for their case, we will confirm the start date for services.
What is the rate for Private Pay services?
This is determined by the RN Assessment completed by our RN Manager. For further information, please contact one of our staff members.
Does Medicare cover Personal Care Services?
No, Personal Care services are only covered for approved Medicaid recipients. We also offer options for Long-Term Care Insurance or Private Pay.
How many hours will be approved for services?
The approved hours are determined by the needs of the client. The approvals are completed through the client’s insurance companies.
